Chinese telecom equipment maker Huawei Technologies has published its annual financial report for 2009, stating that its sales worldwide increased by 19% year-on-year to CNY149.1 billion.
The report shows that in 2009 Huawei realized net profit of CNY18.3 billion, its net profit rate was 12.2%, and its operating profit rate was 14.1%.
Promoted by the 3G network constructions in China, Huawei achieved contracted sales of USD10 billion in the Chinese market in 2009, with the largest share in the Chinese 3G market. At present, Huawei is the largest network equipment provider for China Unicom's WCDMA networks and China Telecom's CDMA2000 EV-DO networks; and it provides over 30% TD-SCDMA network equipment used by China Mobile.
Facing the global economic depression, Huawei still insisted on technology innovation based on the demands of clients. In 2009, the company invested CNY13.3 billion in research, a year-on-year increase of 27.4%. At the same time, the number of its research and development employees increased by 46% to 95,000. The company has set up 17 research institute in the U.S., Germany, Sweden, Russia, India, and China and established 20 joint innovation centers in cooperation with the world's leading operators.
To date, Huawei reportedly provides services to 45 out of the world's top 50 operators.
