Huawei launched its smart band product TalkBand B2 in America and announced a strategic deal with smart band manufacturer Jawbone to integrate data from Huawei's wearable products into its UP application ecosphere.
With the cooperation, Huawei's existing and future wearable products will be able to access Jawbone's UP application and enjoy Jawbone's data integration service. The data will be simultaneously stored in Huawei Wear and Jawbone UP. In the future, Huawei's smart watch will also be included in the Jawbone UP platform.
Financial terms for the deal were not released.
Jawbone is a wearable device start-up in San Francisco, and its smart band products are known for exquisite design. So far, its UP platform has over 3,000 applications, providing various services from health guides to family thermometers.
A representative from Jawbone told Chinese local media that the cooperation between Jawbone and Huawei is worldwide, covering the Chinese market; however, the cooperation is currently limited to application data intercommunication. Both Huawei and Jawbone will still develop hardware products independently.
The Huawei TalkBand B2 ordinary edition is sold at USD179.99 in America, which is about CNY1,116, and its price in China is CNY999; its golden edition is sold at USD199.99, which is about CNY1,240, and its price in China is CNY1,199. The products will be available on Huawei's official website in America at GetHuawei.com, Amazon, as well as offline electronics retail stores Best Buy and Fry's.
