Zensar Technologies Ltd's Chinese joint venture Hanzen Technologies Consulting has won two contracts in the software quality consulting area as well as a trial contract from a Chinese telecom company.
The trial contract is for creating a development centre which will be a mirror facility, Zensar managing director and deputy chairman Ganesh Natarajan has said. He, however, did not divulge the names of companies from whom Hanzen Technologies has bagged the deals.
Mr Natarajan expects the Chinese operations based in Shenzhen to have 50 people on board by March 2004. "We have received strong support for the venture from the Guangzhe provincial government," he said. Zensar was the first company in India to form a software joint venture with a Chinese company. Zensar has a 50 per cent stake in the JV. The JV is with Hong Kong-based Asia Logistics Technologies (ALT). The Indo-Chinese software company, Hanzen Technologies Consulting, is based in Zhuhai but does most of the business in Shenzhen. The JV has identified consulting in quality management systems as a key business area. "Chinese companies are keen on putting in processes in place and get assessed for the SEI CMM model and they are looking at Zensar for consulting," says Ashish Rahinj, chief operating officer of Zensar in China.
