Vyyo Inc. announced yesterday that China Railway Communication Co., Ltd. (China Railcom) has deployed Vyyo's solutions in two Chinese cities: Hohhot and Xining.
China Railcom operates the second largest fixed-line telecommunications network in China. Vyyo's solutions, installed by Shanghai Datang Mobile Communications Equipment Co., Ltd., (Datang Mobile) are being used to bring wireless broadband capability to two capital cities: Hohhot of the Inner Mongolia province and Xining of the Qingha province.
China Railcom is a fully licensed telecommunications operator in China approved by the Ministry of Information Industry to launch phone, data, Internet and other services. Focusing on large and medium enterprises and large Internet service providers, it has 30 subsidiaries in China. Its fixed-line network registered a capacity of over 15 million lines at the end of 2002.
Vyyo offers wireless broadband end-to-end solutions used by telecommunications providers to deliver both wireless telephony and high-speed data connections to business and residential subscribers. The technology uses point-to-multipoint architecture to deliver circuit switched (telephony), as well as voice and data over IP. The company sells systems directly to service providers and systems integrators.
