According to statistics in a report recently released by the National Development and Reform Commission, China was the largest producer of mobile phones, color TVs and monitors in the world for 2003, with the country's output respectively accounting for 35%, 40% and 55% of the world's totals.
Total high-tech turnover in 2003 climbed to US$331 billion, accounting for a year-on-year growth of 30%, the commission continued. China's exports of high-tech products reached US$110 billion last year, an average growth rate of 40% over the past five years.
