The Chinese government has recently launched a crackdown on access to harmful information on the Internet–"Operation Sunshine" will increase supervision over all Internet bars in the country.
The campaign began on Sunday in Wuhan, capital of Hubei, with the stepping up of surveillance of Internet bars and the closing of any businesses without licenses. Similarly, any bar giving entry to people under the age of 16 or allowing access to unhealthy information on the Internet will be penalized.
The crackdown follows a government move last month to ban any new Internet bars within 200 meters of schools.
