TCL Mobile Communication Co., Ltd., a manufacturer of mobile phones, announced today that the company reached the milestone of 10 million units shipped for GSM/GPRS cellular phones designed by TCL Mobile and based on Analog Devices' SoftFone platform and TTPCom's protocol stack and applications software.
This achievement was celebrated at a ceremony held at TCL's headquarters in Huizhou and attended by executives from each company. Huizhou is also the location of joint development laboratories established in March of 2004 by TCL/ADI and TCL/TTPCom and dedicated to the design of wireless handsets.
TCL Mobile continues to amass cellular telephone design, manufacturing and distribution capability, evidenced in a wide range of GSM/GPRS mobile phones based on Analog Devices' SoftFone platform and TTPCom's software, including the flagship TCL 818 camera phone, featuring integrated digital camera, two color LCDs, Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) and polyphonic sound.
TCL Mobile ranked fourth in the earlier announced second annual Asia Pacific Technology Fast 500; and it was the only high-tech enterprise that ranked in the top five for two consecutive years. In addition, TCL Communication Technology Holdings Limited, the intending holding company of TCL Mobile after corporate restructuring and Alcatel have signed a subscription agreement for the establishment of a joint venture company engaging in the research and development, subcontracting of manufacturing, sales and distribution of handsets and peripheral devices.
