Anadigics (NASDAQ:ANAD), a supplier of wireless and broadband solutions, today announced that the Company is shipping its AWT6109 and AWT6114 indium gallium phosphide heterojunction bipolar transistor (InGaP HBT) power amplifiers (PAs) to Xinwei Telecom Technology.
Xinwei, which has exclusive intellectual property rights for the SCDMA wireless local loop (WLL) system, is using the AWT6109 and AWT6114 in several new mobile handset models. Designed primarily for use in rural areas, SCDMA operates in the 1785 MHz to 1805 MHz band, offers 32 code channels for each carrier, and provides a 5 km to 15 km base-station-coverage radius.
The AWT6109 6 mm by 6 mm and AWT6114 4 mm by 4 mm PA modules provide full output power at a low quiescent current of 65 mA and 55 mA respectively, reducing power drain on the system battery. The AWT6109 and AWT6114 eliminate the need for mode switching between high and low output power levels. The PA modules offer selectable bias modes that optimize efficiency for different output power levels, and a shutdown mode with low leakage current. These features reduce power consumption and permit increased handset talk-time. The AWT6109 and AWT6114 modules are manufactured using ANADIGICS' advanced InGaP HBT MMIC technology, which provides state-of-the-art reliability and temperature stability.
