Amoi says it plans to unveil its 3G mobile phone by the end of this year.

Li Xiaozhong, president of the company, has said he will even begin manufacturing the phones before any 3G licenses are issued. The gamble comes amid speculation over when 3G licenses will start to be issued to mobile companies in China.

Amoi has spent over CNY100 million on 3G research and development and started contacting global operators, including Hutchison Whampoa, to build a sales network for the phones.
