Chinese online instant messaging company Tencent has appointed Martin Lau as president of the company.
Lau will assist Ma Huateng, chairman and CEO of Tencent, in the company's daily management and operation so that that Ma can concentrate on the company's development strategy and product planning.
Martin Lau joined Tencent in February 2005 as chief strategy and investment officer. He has more than ten years' experience in acquisitions, mergers and management consulting.
Ma Huateng says that Lau has made great contributions to the company's management and operation in the past year and has become an important member of the company's management team.
