China's Department of Industry and Commerce and the public security department of Haidian District in Beijing have confiscated more than 70 illegal notebooks from an underground workshop in Beijing's Malianwashu area.
These bootleg notebook computers are crafted to look like famous brands such as Fujitsu, HP and IBM.
An employee at the workshop told inspectors that he and his colleagues had been processing second-hand computers before selling them at an electronics market in Zhongguancun. The person said that they only sprayed some paint on the old computers, changed their shells and sold them as new laptops on the market.
In addition, the inspectors found that the workshop did not have any import files nor any purchasing bills, let alone an operations license.
The inspectors say that they would make further investigations and then decide what types of charges would be brought against the owners.
