Juniper Networks (JNPR) says that China Telecom Shanghai has optimized its high performance next-generation IP network, supporting IPTV and other multiplay applications, by deploying additional TX Matrix and T640 core routing platforms.
"A rich mix of advanced IP services is supporting China’s continued economic boom," said Eric Yu, Juniper’s country manager for Greater China. "Chinese companies recognize the value that next-generation multiplay services bring and are eager to leverage more sophisticated and higher performance network applications-all of which drives traffic in the network core. The TX Matrix helps service providers such as China Telecom Shanghai address this demand with an agile, open and customized multi-terabit core network that delivers high performance at optimal capital expense and overhead."
The service provider, a wholly-owned subsidiary of China Telecom, first deployed the multi-chassis TX Matrix alongside existing Juniper Networks M-series multiservice routers and E-series edge routers in February 2006. The current expansion of its multi-terabit core network is designed to meet rapid subscriber and traffic growth.
Shipping since April 2002, the T-series core routing platforms have an installed base of over 2,500 platforms worldwide across over 125 service provider production networks.
The TX Matrix combines multiple T640 platforms to deliver multi-terabit scale. With the TX Matrix and the T1600, Juniper enables T-series customers to select the upgrade path optimized to their specific deployment requirements, protecting customers’ investments and enabling a lower total cost of ownership.
