Oracle (ORCL) has formally announced the start of its Shenyang branch, which is expected to serve as a strong platform for the company to participate in Liaoning Province as well as the northeast China's information software industry development.
The establishment of Shenyang branch is part of the MOU that Oracle signed with Liaoning Provincial Information Industry Department last year.
In June 2006, Oracle set up Oracle Global Support Center in Dalian to provide technology support service to clients in the Chinese mainland, Taiwan and South Korea with local languages. In August 2006, the company signed a memorandum of understanding with LPIID, which included the establishment of an Oracle branch in Shenyang and the training of software talents in the area.
Li Hanzhang, executive general manager of Oracle Greater China, says that Oracle chose Shenyang to be the location of the new branch mainly because of the city's rapid economic and technological development, its sound infrastructure, excellent talent base and investment environment and the local government's great support. Li says that Oracle hopes to speed up its localization in Shenyang via this branch.
