Chinese wireless value-added services firm Linktone (LTON) has named Muliawan Guptha, currently a Linktone board member, as the company's new chief strategy officer.
"Muliawan is a highly regarded executive, with significant knowledge in the fields of media and finance and experience with companies publicly listed in Asia," said Michael Li, Linktone's CEO. "Under Muliawan's leadership, we will continue to evaluate strategic partnerships that will enable us to pursue and execute our diversification strategies."
Guptha has been working with television broadcasting companies in Indonesia since 2001, including PT Cipta TPI, PT Musik Televisi Indonesia and PT Global Information Bermutu, in the areas of finance, technology and administration. These companies are affiliates of Indonesia's PT Media Nusantara Citra Tbk, which bought a controlling interest in Linktone in April 2008.
Linktone has yet to formally state its second quarter earnings for 2008, but its first quarter report shows revenues of USD20.5 million, compared with USD16 million in the fourth quarter of 2007 and USD14.2 million in the first quarter of 2007. For the second quarter ending June 30, 2008, Linktone expects gross revenue to be approximately USD16.5 to USD18 million with WVAS; game revenues to be between USD12.5 and USD13 million; and advertising revenues to be between USD4.0 and USD5.0 million.
