TCL has released its sales statistics for July 2008, which says that the company sold 420,659 LCD television sets in the month, a year-on-year increase of 436.2%.
According to the report, the LCD sales of TCL maintained a high development speed in July. In the domestic Chinese market, the sales of its CRT TV sets, which has become a major contributor to the company's profit growth, was 431,185, a year-on-year increase of 7.5%. Since the beginning of 2008, the sales of TCL's LCD TV have experienced rapid growth, which reflects the gradual upgrade of its position in the world's LCD TV sector.
Apart from the LCD TV business, the mobile phone business of TCL also attained a satisfactory result in July. A total of 1,228,887 mobile phones were sold in July, a year-on-year increase of 45.86%. Of those, 165,574 were sold on the domestic Chinese market, a year-on-year increase of 93.09%. In addition, the overseas market continues to be the main force for the company's growth, which greatly reduced the impact that brought by the policy adjustments of China's mobile phone industry. In the second half of 2008, TCL will launch its new products under the names of TCL and Alcatel.
The company's statistics in July also show good results in the sales of refrigerators and washing machines, which increased 11.55% and 41.30%, respectively. However, the sales of air conditioners in the northwestern areas of China were greatly affected by factors such as season and climate.
