The China Telecom Wuhan branch has started to promote the second phase of the deployment of hotspots for its wireless local area networks and plans to have 1,200 operational by the end of 2008.
Upon the completion of the first phase of construction, Wuhan had 637 hotspots. However, compared with some more technologically advanced provinces in China, the hotspot coverage in Wuhan is far from enough. Combining the application situation of China Telecom's CDMA+Wi-Fi business with the development planning of Wuhan's wireless city construction and the government's demand for mobile office services, the China Telecom Wuhan branch decided to set up 643 new hotspots in the fourth quarter of 2008.
At the completion of the plan, Wuhan will have over 1,200 hotspots and over 3,000 access points before the end of 2008.
In addition, to highlight its brand, the China Telecom Wuhan branch will place obvious signs at its hotspots and the established hotspots will be included in the company's maintenance management to raise the availability of the equipment, so as to ensure good experiences for its users.
