Chinese market research firm Analysys International has published its monitoring report on China's search engine market for the first quarter of 2009, which shows the scale of China's search engine market has reached CNY1.365 billion, a year-on-year increase of 46%, but a decrease of 11% compared with the previous quarter.
According to the report, the Chinese search engine giant Baidu.com still held the first place in the Chinese search engine market with market share of 59% and its major competitor, Google, gained market share of 30.6%, exceeding 30% for the first time. Analysys International said that the market share increase of Google is mainly attributed to the launch of its new music search product in China.
For other search engines, Yahoo China gained market share of 6%; Sogou.com, the search engine product of Sohu.com, gained market share of 0.8%; Zhongsou.com gained market share of 0.7%, Soso.com, the search engine product of Tencent, gained market share of 0.7%, and NetEase.com gained market share of 0.4%.
