Chinese search engine company Baidu.com and the Chinese telecom operator China Unicom have jointly announced that the two parties have signed a strategic agreement for wireless search.
Under the agreement, Baidu.com will provide an overall wireless search technology support, including WAP search and web page search, to China Unicom; while China Unicom will provide the mobile phone search service co-operated by the two companies on the homepage of its mobile phones, bringing rapid, accurate, smart, and customized wireless search experiences to users.
In the future, the two parties will also implement in-depth cooperation in product innovation, brand promotion, and development of industry standardization.
So far, Baidu.com has established partnership with many mobile phone and chip makers, including Nokia, Samsung, Lenovo, and MediaTek for the development of its wireless search sector. The new alliance with China Unicom, whose WCDMA network is the best recognized 3G network across the world, is expected to improve Baidu.com's distribution in the wireless search industry chain.
