The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's latest list of 125 recommended communications industry standards has been released in China.
Effective January 1, 2010, the 125 standards were formulated under the organization of China Communications Standards Association. Of the total, 109 are new standards and 16 are amended standards.
The 125 standards include 26 for 3G and wireless communications; 30 for transmission networks, access networks, and optical devices; 18 for IMS, IPTV, and network management; 13 for IP and Internet services; 27 for network and information security; nine for safe manufacturing and communication power supply; one for information barrier-free, and one for mobile communication terminals.
These standards are an extension of recent moves within MIIT to better manage various areas it controls. Last year MIIT pushed forward its "Management Regulations for the Security and Oversight of Communications Networks", aiming to enhance security of public communications networks and the Internet. And MIIT published a unified standard for earphone interfaces of mobile phones, and the standard was officially implemented from September 1, 2009.
