Lu Jiansheng, vice president of Sony Ericsson Group and director of Sony Ericsson China, has confirmed that he has departed from the positions.
Lu was appointed vice president of Sony Ericsson Group and director of Sony Ericsson China from July 1, 2007, taking charge of Sony Ericsson's China sales and operations. Before joining Sony Ericsson, he held important positions in Ericsson and Motorola.
After Lu resigns, Herve Fontaine, vice director of Sony Ericsson China, will temporarily take his position.
Commenting on Lu's departure, Sony Ericsson said that it is Lu's personal decision and has nothing to do with the performance of Sony Ericsson China.
Latest media reports revealed that Lu will join INQ, a subsidiary of Hutchison Whampoa, as president of Greater China. Founded in 2008, INQ is a mobile phone manufacturer, headquartered in London and with offices in Rome, San Francisco, Beijing and Hong Kong. It concentrates on affordable, mid-range smartphones which integrate social networking and a range of usability features.
