Chinese telecom operator China Mobile has published its unaudited financial statistics for the first quarter of 2010, stating that its operating revenue increased by 7.7% year-on-year to CNY109.087 billion and its profit attributable to shareholders increased by 1.1% year-on-year to CNY25.477 billion.
By the end of March 2010, China Mobile had gained 539 million users, a net increase of 16.61 million. Its average revenue per user during the period was CNY70. The number was CNY80 in the same period of 2009. In addition, during the first three months of 2010, the number of people who used its value-added services was 508.4 million, including 155 million multimedia messaging service users and 433 million wireless music users.
During the reporting period, 178.3 billion mobile text messages were also sent by China Mobile users.
China Telecom also recently published its latest operating statistics, reporting an increase of 3.3 million new CDMA users in March 2010. By the end of March 2010, the operator had gained 65.45 million CDMA users. At the same time, its fixed line phone user group continued to shrink, with losses of 1.4 million in March, and the total number of users of this service decreased to 184.2 million. The number of its broadband users increased by 810,000 over the previous month to a total of 55.84 million.
