Chinese lifestyle information website Ganji.com has launched a new collective buying product, which will first cooperate with Womai.com owned by COFCO Group in providing group buying deals in Beijing.
Ganji.com has reportedly contacted almost 100 vendors for initial cooperation, including many business-to-consumer websites and Golden Harvest Cinema. The products of Ganji.com's group buying will cover dining; apparel; entertainment venues; maternal and infant supplies; and household supplies.
Yang Haoyong, chief executive officer of Ganji.com, told local media that they did not follow suit when the collective buying business was just started in China; instead the company is formally launching its collective buying product line on the demands of its customers and users. Prior to this, Ganji.com launched a navigation platform for group buying websites, linking local group buying websites in Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou.
In addition, Gaopeng.com, the collective buying website jointly invested by Groupon, Tencent Collaboration Fund and Yunfeng Capital started formal operation on March 16, 2011. It offers deals in Beijing and Shanghai, respectively.
