Chinese Internet company Tencent has formed a strategic alliance with Intel and Razer to develop a new RazerSwitchblade handheld device with Tencent's games.
The concept product of RazerSwitchblade adopts the Windows 7 operating system and Intel Atom processor. It has a 7-inch multi-touch screen and tactile dynamic keyboard. It also pre-installs some gaming products of Tencent to enable better PC gaming experience in the portable device.
Min-Liang Tan, chief executive officer of Razer, told local media that the RazerSwitchblade product is customized for the Chinese market and currently is only available in this marketplace. With the enhancement of the cooperation of the three parties, Razer may seek more extensive cooperating opportunities in the global market. However, Tan did not reveal when the product will be formally launched elsewhere.
Ma Xiaoyi, vice president of Tencent, said that RazerSwitchblade is not specially customized for Tencent, but the company will launch several games specially optimized for the portable device. Ma also said that the company will promote Tencent's games to the worldwide market with more cross-border cooperation. In addition, the company will bring high-quality overseas games into China by international investments.
