Chinese telecom operator China Unicom has published its operating statistics for June 2011, stating that the number of its 2G mobile phone users increased by 417,000 and its 3G users increased by 1.855 million during the reporting period.
China Unicom said that during June 2011, it gained 417,000 new 2G mobile phone users, but it was a decrease of 28.84% compared with the 586,000 new users in May 2011; meanwhile, it gained 1.855 million new 3G users, an increase of 6.73% compared with the 1.738 million new users in May.
By the end of June 2011, China Unicom had developed 157.665 million 2G users and 23.945 million 3G users.
In addition, China Unicom's broadband users continued to increase from 834,000 in May to 1.058 million in June. The total number of its broadband users had reached 52.322 million.
For the fixed-line sector, the number of users continued to decline. China Unicom said it lost 304,000 fixed-line users in May and it further lost 387,000 fixed-line users in June. So far, the total number of its fixed-line users has decreased to 95.458 million.
