Chinese telecom operator China Mobile has published its semi-annual results ended June 30, 2011, stating that its profit attributable to shareholders reached CNY61.3 billion, a year-over-year increase of 6.3%; and its net profit rate reached 24.5%.
China Mobile said that during the first half of 2011, its operating revenue was CNY250.1 billion, increasing by 8.8% compared with the same period last year. Its revenue from value-added business increased by 18.5% year-over-year to CNY80.4 billion, accounting for 32.2% of its total operating revenue. Its revenue from wireless Internet business was CNY19.3 billion, a year-over-year increase of 42.8%.
Meanwhile, China Mobile's earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization reached CNY124.2 billion, a year-over-year increase of 6.5%; its EBITDA rate was 49.6%; and its basic earnings per share were CNY3.05, a year-over-year increase of 6.3%.
The report also said that China Mobile's customer expansion saw significant performance in the first half of 2011 and it gained 32.77 million new users, reaching a total of 610 million users by the end of June 2011. While maintaining a stable group of medium- and high-end users, its group customer scale was further enlarged to 3.1 million. Its 3G users also saw rapid growth and it had 35.03 million 3G users by the end of the reporting period.
In addition, China Mobile had hired 170,019 employees by June 30, 2011 and its labor costs were CNY13.1 billion, accounting for 5.2% of its operating revenue.
