Chinese telecom equipment maker ZTE has launched its first tablet computer product Optik in the United States.
Sprint will be reportedly in charge of the sales of Optik in the country. ZTE Optik will be available through Sprint direct ship sales channels, including Sprint Stores, Sprint Business Sales, Telesales and online store. With a two-year contract, the new product will be sold at USD99.99; while the version without contract is USD349.99.
Optik adopts a 7-inch touchscreen display, a dual-core 1.2GHz processor made by Qualcomm, 16GB storage, and 1GB RAM. Operating on the Honeycomb Android 3.2 system, it provides both 2-megapixel front-facing and 5-megapixel rear cameras.
Prior to this, the Chinese company announced ambitious goals targeting the worldwide and North American markets. According to Cheng Lixin, chief executive officer for ZTE USA and president for North America region, Optik will make the tablet experience available to a new segment of consumers. It provides an exceptional user experience to consumers who demand affordability, flexibility and mobility in one package.
