China's Lenovo Group and America's VeriFone Systems have jointly announced that the two parties will provide ThinkPad Mobile POS mobile payment solution to retailers in the United States.
Based on Lenovo's tablet computer, ThinkPad Mobile POS system is a customized version of PAYware, the enterprise mobile payment solution developed by VeriFone. Via this payment system, retailers can easily configure, use, and manage an end-to-end POS device that offers a more efficient and flexible alternative than a stationary cash register. At the same time, this solution can help retailers improve operating revenue and customer experience.
Retailers can remotely manage the ThinkPad Mobile POS system, including device tracking, application management, status checking on individual units, remotely wiping data, and resetting devices. In addition, IT managers have the complete administration rights to control the system updating time, so as to avoid business interruption or security issues caused by unaduited updates.
Dilip Bhatia, vice president for Lenovo's ThinkPad business unit, said that ThinkPad Mobile POS system brings VeriFone's world-leading secure e-payment solution into Lenovo's ThinkPad family. It will help Lenovo increase the security and customer transaction speed of its mobile payment platform to a new level.
Jennifer Miles, VeriFone's executive vice president for North America, said that mobile solutions are enabling retailers to re-imagine the POS. By providing PAYware mobile enterprise payment system, Lenovo's ThinkPad tablet solutions will effectively help retailers attract more consumers.
