China Telecom has just lowered international roaming fees in the U.S., U.K., France, Germany, Australia, Japan, South Korea, Egypt, and South Africa.
With the new policy, users will pay no more than CNY2.99 per minute for calling from these countries and regions to mainland China, or receiving calls in these countries and regions, representing an average decrease rate of over 50%.
Prior to this, China Telecom decreased the roaming fees in Hong Kong on February 1, 2013. It costs only CNY0.79 per minute to call from Hong Kong to mainland China, and the cost is CNY0.3 per minute for receiving calls or making local calls in Hong Kong.
China Telecom's new roaming fee adjustment is applicable for eSurfing UIM cards. Those who do not use this card can change in the operator's business halls and open the international roaming service before going abroad.
To use this service, users should have a mobile phone that supports the GSM/WCDMA dual-mode. When arriving in their destinations, they can switch to the local GSM/WCDMA networks to enjoy the preferred charges.
