From January to June 2013, China exported 527 million mobile phone units, a year-on-year increase of 15.2%; and the related export value was USD41.55 billion, a year-on-year increase of 16%.
According to statistics provided by Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China, during the first half of 2013 China's mobile phone output and export both saw increases, especially the mobile phone exports which reversed the situation of slow growth in previous years.
The statistics showed that the U.S. was the largest export market for Chinese-made mobile phones. However, the export performance of Chinese-made mobile phones was not good in ASEAN, Latin America, or Africa. The statistics also revealed that during the first six months of 2013, about 47% of the exported Chinese mobile phones were re-exported from Hong Kong to other regions of the world.
By June 2013, the average price of Chinese-made mobile phone exported was USD81, which basically unchanged compared with the second half of 2012.
In addition, the average compound growth rate of the export volume of Chinese mobile phones from 2000 to 2012 reached 37.2%; and the average compound growth rate of export value was 33%.
