Chinese telecom operator China Mobile published its performance results for the first half of 2013, stating that during the reporting period the company achieved operating revenue of CNY303.1 billion, a year-on-year increase of 10.4%.
The company's profit attributable to shareholders was CNY63.1 billion, a year-on-year increase of 1.5%.
The company also said that its net profit rate was 20.8%; while its earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization were CNY123.7 billion, a year-on-year increase of 0.5%.
Of the total revenue, communications services contributed CNY284.7, an increase of 6.8% compared with the same period of last year. The company's data business revenue increased by 25.5% year-on-year to CNY95.4 billion, accounting for 33.5% of the communications service revenue. Meanwhile, the company's mobile Internet business revenue was CNY47.4 billion, a year-on-year increase of 62.2%.
During the first half of 2013, the number of China Mobile users reached over 740 million and the total talk time on the China Mobile network reached 2.138 trillion minutes. At the same time, the operator's mobile Internet business volume increased by 129% year-on-year and the mobile Internet revenue accounted for 16.6% of the total communications service revenue. China Mobile sold about 66 million TD-SCDMA smartphones in the first six months of 2013.
For network construction, China Mobile claimed to have 361,000 3G based stations by June 2013; its network usage rate was 25%; and it had 4.1 million WLAN access points. The company also said it launched the construction of over 200,000 TD-LTE base stations nationwide, which will cover the main urban areas of 100 cities.
