China Telecom published its semi-annual financial report, stating that by June 30, 2013, the company's operating revenue increased by 14.1% year-on-year to CNY157.52 billion; and its net profit increased by 15.9% year-on-year to CNY10.213 billion.
According to the report, China Telecom realized double-digit growth for both operating revenue and net profit. At the same time, its operating revenue excluding mobile device sales was CNY139.2 billion, a year-on-year increase of 10%. In addition, China Telecom's capital expense was CNY33.1 billion during the reporting period and its cash flow was CNY13.8 billion.
For mobile business, China Telecom gained a net increase of 13.88 million mobile users during the first half of 2013, reaching a total of 175 million users. Meanwhile, its 3G users saw a net increase of 18.28 million. China Telecom's revenue from mobile services increased by 28.3% year-on-year to CNY54.6 billion, accounting for 35% of the total revenue.
From January to June 2013, China Telecom's 3G users consumed monthly average traffic of over 168M, a year-on-year increase of 51%. Meanwhile, its mobile Internet revenue reached CNY9.8 billion, which was nearly a double growth.
For fixed-line business, China Telecom claimed revenue of CNY35.2 billion from fixed-line broadband during the first half of 2013, a year-on-year increase of 5.5%; and the number of its broadband users reached 95.82 million, marking a net increase of 5.7 million.
