South Korea's Samsung will reportedly invest USD500 million to build a new assembly and testing plant in Xi'an, Shaanxi province.
According to reports in Chinese local media, the new plant is expected to start construction in January 2014, and it will be completed by the end of 2014.
In 2012, Samsung invested USD7 billion in a new chip factory in Xi'an. In January 2013, the company invested USD1.7 billion in its business operation in Kunshan.
As one of the largest mobile phone, storage chip, and television makers in the world, Samsung is planning to enlarge its customer base and to better control its manufacturing network, including its 250 supplier plants in China.
