Alibaba's UC Browser announced during the Global Mobile Internet Conference Jakarta that they will establish their Southeast Asia headquarters in Indonesia's capital Jakarta.
With the new headquarters, UC Browser plans to further enhance their investment and distribution in Southeast Asia.
By August 2015, the company's browser market share in Indonesia was 40.03%. By building its Southeast Asia headquarters, UC Browser takes an important step towards their international strategy, allowing the company to further enter the Southeast Asia market and implement localization plans.
Zhong Wei, UC Browser's general manager in Indonesia, said that Indonesia's mobile Internet is experiencing explosive growth. UC Browser hopes to invite more Internet manufacturers to explore the Indonesian market and to build an ecosystem that can benefit all parties.
Financial terms of Alibaba's investment in the country were not released.
