China's Sinovation Ventures announced that they have several talents joining the company to further enhance distribution and investment in the artificial intelligence sector.
According to the company, Google's senior engineer Wang Yonggang and Microsoft Research's researcher Wang Jiaping formally joined the artificial intelligence institute of Sinovation Ventures.
At the same time, former marketing director of Google China Huang Huiwen announced plans to join Sinovation Ventures as a partner and chief marketing officer of the company. Former investment vice president of Legend Capital Xiong Hao will join Sinovation Ventures as general manager and investment director of South China region of the company.
Sinovation Ventures' South China headquarters was officially established in Shenzhen in September 2016. At that time, Kai-Fu Lee, chairman and chief executive officer of Sinovation Ventures, said that artificial intelligence would become the investment focus for the company in this and the next stage. Lee also revealed that the company would set up an artificial intelligence institute.
Sinovation Ventures' artificial intelligence institute has now officially surfaced, with Kai-Fu Lee as director and Wang Yonggang and Wang Jiaping as vice directors. Meanwhile, Wang Yonggang will also assume the position of technology vice president and Wang Jiaping as investment director.
In addition, machine learning expert Shi Xiaohan, who previously served at Microsoft and Twitter, will be data science vice president of the artificial intelligence institute of Sinovation Ventures. Zhong Dawei, who previously worked for IBM, LightInTheBox, and SnapPea, will be senior technology manager.
