To better support the development of China's western region and China's ambitious One Belt, One Road inititiative, Alibaba Group's chairman Jack Ma announced plans to build Alibaba's northwestern headquarters in Xi'an, provincial capital of Shaanxi province.
Ma said Xi'an is an important city in the northwestern region, and it is the starting point of the One Belt, One Road plan. Alibaba has been paying attention to Xi'an and the development of western region, and they attach great importance to the development and service opportunities in Xi'an.
Alibaba is looking forward to participating in the construction of Xi'an and making more contributions to the construction of China's western development. Therefore, they decided to locate their northwestern headquarters in Xi'an, said Ma.
At the same time, Alibaba's Cainiao Network will enhance investments in Xi'an and establish the northwestern core node of China smart logistics network in the city, to serve the construction of Xi'an and the economic development and service upgrade of the northwestern region.
At present, Alibaba already has logistics, e-commerce and Internet finance businesses in Xi'an. With the construction of northwestern headquarters, Xi'an will carry more core businesses of Alibaba Group.
