According to reports in foreign media, Google has suspended its cooperation with Huawei and the related business is not covered by open source license.
As the result, Huawei smartphones will not be able to use Google Play Store, Gmail, or YouTube services in the future. In addition, Google will stop providing technical supports and collaboration to Huawei regarding Android and Google services.
Commenting on this move, Google China responded that they are following this order and will review its impact.
Analysts said that the Android system includes two parts: a complete operating system basing on AOSP Apache 2.0 open source protocol; and GMS provided by Google basing on business licensing agreement such as Google Play, YouTube, and Gmail clients and services. Though Huawei can continue to use AOSP to develop new Android systems; the company will not be able to use Google's services on its overseas smartphones in the future, which will significantly impact its smartphone business.
Based on its report for the first quarter of 2019, Huawei's smartphone shipment in overseas markets accounted for about 40% of its total shipment.
