China Mobile recently published its semi-annual performance report, stating that the company's operating revenue was CNY389.4 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 0.6%; and its net profit attributable to shareholders was CNY56.1 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 14.6%.
According to the report, China Mobile's communication service revenue was CNY351.4 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 1.3%; its mobile users reached 935 million, a net increase of 9.98 million; and its cable broadband users reached 175 million, a net increase of 18.2 million.
Yang Jie, chairman of China Mobile, said in the report that China Mobile's 4G users saw a net increase of 21.13 million, reaching a total of 734 million and its Internet of Things smart accesses saw a net increase of 142 million, reaching a total of 693 million.
The report also revealed that China Mobile will build over 50,000 5G base stations across China and realize 5G commercial services in over 50 cities before the end of 2019. In addition, China Mobile will play a greater role in the formulation of the next version of 5G international standard and cooperate with various parties to enhance 5G-related basic technology research to ensure advanced technologies.
