A hacker has claimed credit for breaking into Shanghai’s Covid app and stealing user information. A hacker operating under the moniker XJP reportedly advertised a database containing sensitive information on 48.5 million individuals on the hacker site Breach Forums. The information comes from “Suishenma,” the Chinese term for Shanghai’s health code system, which has been utilised by all residents and tourists alike since the year 2020.
