Chinese home appliances and electronics maker TCL Group has published its sales statistics of major products for March and the first quarter of 2010.
The report published by the company shows that it sold 401,300 LCD TVs in March 2010, a year-on-year increase of 10.93%; and it sold 1.93 million LCD TVs in the first quarter of 2010, a year-on-year increase of 60.77%. At the same time, the sales of its CRT TVs also increased by 20.9% year-on-year, despite the overall decline of CRT TV market in China.
TCL also had outstanding performance in the overseas markets in during the period. In March 2010, the sales of its LCD TVs in the European and emerging markets increased by 112.6% and 244.9%, respectively; and the sales in these markets increased by 147.3% and 352.1%, respectively, during the first three months of 2010.
For its communications business, TCL sold 5.789 million mobile phones and related accessories from January to March 2010, a growth of 154.32% compared with the same period of last year. Of the total products, 5.34 million were sold in the overseas markets, increasing by 198.87% year-on-year.
Stimulated by the increasing demands in the overseas markets and the improvement of the company's sales channels, TCL's home appliances business also saw rapid growth in March 2010. The sales of its air-conditioners, washing machines, and refrigerators increased by 80.94%, 185.33%, and 109.90%, respectively, compared with the previous month; and the sales of these products increased by 128.08%, 31.53%, and 8.45%, respectively, compared with the previous year.
