Gan Shaoning, deputy director of the State Intellectual Property Office of China, has disclosed to local media that SIPO will provide two methods for intellectual property protection of the World Expo 2010.
According to Gan, the first relief channel is judiciary relief, that is, to protect the intellectual property rights of the World Expo through civil action or criminal action; and the second is administrative relief which means that the copyright departments will provide protection to intellectual protection of the World Expo according to relevant laws in China.
The Shanghai World Expo opened on May 1, 2010, and lasts for half a year.
Eight Chinese departments including SIPO, Ministry of Public Security, State Administration for Industry and Commerce, and National Copyright Administration of China, have jointly released a circular on the special campaign for the protection of intellectual property of World Expo 2010. To make sure the circular is fully carried out, General Administration of Press and Publication and SIPO have issued another document asking a rapid response system to be set up for the protection of intellectual property rights related to the World Expo.
