Chinese telecom operator China Telecom has released its operating statistics for March 2011, stating that the number of its CDMA users saw fast growth of 58%, reaching a total of over 100 million for the first time.
The company said that in March 2011, it added 3.8 million new CDMA subscribers, a month-over-month increase of 58%. The number was 2.4 million in February. With this fast subscriber growth, China Telecom's CDMA user group increased from 96.45 million to 100.25 million, making it the largest CDMA operator in the world.
For broadband business, China Telecom had 66.85 million users by the end of March 2011, a net increase of 1.45 million; and for fixed-line business, the company continued to lose users and the number of its fixed-line telephone subscribers decreased from 173.77 million in February to 173.36 million.
In addition, China Telecom earned CNY4.618 billion in the first fiscal quarter of 2011, a year-on-year increase of 8.1%. During the reporting period, its operating revenue was CNY58.674 billion, a year-on-year increase of 11.3%; and its earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization was CNY23.761 billion, a year-on-year increase of 4.2%.
However, China Telecom did not disclose its average revenue per user, and it only said that the number was a little lower than the same period of last year.
