The leader team for HP's Printers and Personal Systems Group in China has announced planning for the new 2013 financial year, stating that the group aims to increase its PC market share in China and further enhance its leading position in the Chinese printer market.
In June 2012, Yi Xiaohui, former Lenovo executive, joined HP as the Chinese president of HP PPS Group. Over the past six months, Yi smoothed PPS' strategy in China, covering channel, service, market and product groups.
HP's new strategy reportedly includes five parts. The company plans to integrate development and design systems and unify marketing, sales and channel teams. Meanwhile, it will develop customized products for the Chinese market; stabilize channel confidence and enlarge channel coverage; enhance marketing campaigns in consumer and business sectors; and establish new quality supervision and service systems by strictly controlling product quality and increase service sites.
Due to the product quality problems and the unstable global strategy, China HP's revenue was significantly impacted in China over the past two years. Its PC market share continued to decline and once decreased to 5%. However, with the new strategy, Yi hopes to solve these problems.
Yi said HP's new team started to recover channel confidence last quarter. At present, their PC market share in China has returned to 7.3%, which proved the correctness of the new strategy. Yi emphasized that with the new team's efforts in product, channel, service and market, HP PPS China will achieve the revenue target in the new financial year.
