Chinese online game developer and operator Giant Interactive Group and South Korean game developer and operator Ntreev Soft Company Ltd. signed an agreement in Shanghai for the launch of a new product in China.
Under the agreement, the two parties will cooperate in the development and operation of mobile game products. Their first product Project Panda is expected to be launched in China in August 2013 and it will be introduced to overseas markets. This new product will be first available on Android and iOS platforms, and a Web version will be launched later.
Meanwhile, the two parties will take the opportunity to make in-depth communications and exploration in the mobile game sector. They will discuss mobile game development and operation experiences, have some information sharing, and provide priority cooperation to each other.
Founded in 2004, Ntreev is a well-known game developer and operator in South Korea. With the successes of several baseball games, the company has become a leading sports game provider in the country. Starting from 2012, it enhanced investments in mobile game development and has completed many quality mobile games through both self-development and cooperating with outside partners.
Peng Cheng, vice president of Giant, said that the cooperation with Ntreev has an important meaning for Giant's mobile game strategy. The company will actively expand mobile game development cooperation while ensuring the quality of its products.
Over the past two years, the Chinese mobile game industry entered an explosive growth period. A report published by China Internet Network Information Center showed that in 2012, China had 139 million mobile game users, accounting for 33.2% of total mobile netizens. This represented a 3% increase compared with 2011.
