CNNIC (China Internet Network Information Center) yesterday released the results of the Fourth China Internet Network Information Resource Survey, which was mainly focused on the current registered websites around the country.
By January 2005, China had 1,852,300 registered websites, an increase of 56% over the previous year.
Most of the registered domain names, about 71.6%, end with com.cn and .com. The next highest amount of domain names is .net.cn and .net, accounting for 12.5%. And the second-level domain names under .cn take up 10.5%.
Demographically, Guangdong, Beijing and Fujian rank in the top three for domain name registrations, with 16.3%, 12.9% and 11.2%, respectively.
