Chinese e-commerce website JD.com is working on ways to eliminate the frustration of missed deliveries and unreliable arrival times of its goods to consumers.
Now JD.com online shoppers can pay between CNY6 and CNY39 to guarantee delivery during a designated period of time over the coming week. The delivery service is available from 9am to 10pm in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Wuhan, Shenyang, and Xi'an, and the service will soon roll-out to other major cities.
JD's logistics distribution service has formed three networks, including the logistics network for medium- and small items; the logistics network for large items; and the cold-chain logistics network. At present, JD has seven "smart" logistics centers, 254 large warehouses, 5.5-million-square-meter warehousing facilities, and 6,780 delivery sites and pick-up points.
JD's representative told local media that with the continuous optimization of JD's delivery routes, they can not only improve delivery efficiency, but also can achieve punctual delivery.
