The software industry of Beijing achieved a total business revenue of CNY78 billion in the year 2005, which is 4.1 times larger than in 2000.
Meanwhile, the export volume of software reached US$300 million, a 6.8 times increase from 2000.
The two figures account for a quarter and one-third, respectively, of the country's total volume for those years.
The data comes from Zhou Fang, general manager of the Beijing-based Zhongguancun Software Park, which is considered the Silicon Valley of China.
Fang says Zhongguancun will complete a second scheduled expansion toward the western part of the city during the Eleventh Five-Year Plan period.
