Juniper Networks (JNPR) says that Chongqing Telecom, a wholly-owned subsidiary of China Telecom (CHA), has deployed Juniper Networks E320 Broadband Service Routers.
"With over half a million customers and plans to further expand its service footprint, Chongqing Telecom needed a single platform that could reliably deliver all of its advanced services while helping streamline operations," said Eric Yu, Juniper's vice president of Greater China. "The E320 delivers advanced services with the scalability, capacity and quality that will enable Chongqing to grow while keeping total costs low."
According to Juniper, this will help to cost-effectively address growing demand for high-speed Internet, IP television (IPTV), video on demand and other advanced IP services to their extensive customer base. With the ability to efficiently support large numbers of high-bandwidth subscribers on a single platform, the E320 enables Chongqing to introduce innovative new services while keeping costs per subscriber low.
Chongqing Telecom operates one of China's largest and most advanced broadband networks, delivering high-speed Internet access, IPTV and voice over IP, among other advanced services in its broad service portfolio. It selected the E320 for its ideal combination of stability, industry leading capacity and high performance at scale. This unique and comprehensive combination of features enables Chongqing Telecom to deliver its entire service portfolio from the E320, avoiding the costs associated with managing and maintaining multiple smaller network elements.
The E320, the industry's largest capacity, high-performance edge routing platform, can be optionally configured with 100 Gbps or 320 Gbps of capacity to support large central office deployments and the bandwidth demands of multiplay services, and utilizes Juniper Networks' JUNOSe operational software, a field-proven, feature-rich operating system that underpins a flexible yet stable operational environment.
